SpaandanB Raised Fund At Fry's electronics, Palo Alto - 2010

SpaandanB volunteers sold over 4,500 hotdogs and raised $2,000 on May 14th-16th for the benefit of the underprivileged people in Bangladesh.
The story of this memorable event started when Mr.Sadiq Khan, General Manager of Fry's Electronics, Palo Alto branch, offered an excellent
proposal for SpaandanB. Fry's Electronics, one of the most eminent names in the world of electronics stores, was celebrating their 25th anniversary
in May. In order to show gratitude towards their invaluable customers, Fry's Electronics advertised to sell "one hotdog and a can of soda for
only 25 cents" during their anniversary celebration. Moreover, Fry's let a non-profit organization sell those hot dogs and sodas.
Fry's was generous enough to provide all the supplies for the sale and let the non-profit organization keep all the proceeds. As Mr. Khan proposed,
SpaandanB could take this opportunity of selling the hotdogs and keeping the entire proceeds for the organization.

On Friday (May 14th) morning, not knowing what challenges might be awaiting them, SpaandanB volunteers started their mission of selling hotdogs.
The SpaandanB team decorated a corner of the Fry's parking with SpaandanB banners, Bangladeshi flags, highlights of some SpaandanB projects
and much more. The incredible price of 25 cents for a hotdog and a can of soda created overwhelming demand among the customers.
In order to meet such demand, the SpaandanB team created an "assembly line" for making hotdogs more efficiently.
One person was boiling the hotdog links; two people were putting the links in the buns, while two others were wrapping the hotdogs and putting
them in the tray. Two people were at the cash registers selling the hotdogs and collecting all the proceeds from the sale.
"Would you care to donate a quarter to save some lives in Bangladesh?" - was a common utterance from some of the kid volunteers who were at
the cash register. By the end of Friday, SpaandanB sold about 1,400 hotdogs and collected $700. The same story continued for the next two
days and by Sunday, SpaandanB sold over 4,500 hotdogs and raised $2,000.

It was indeed a memorable event for SpaandanB for a number of reasons. First of all, the SpaandanB team was able to raise a handsome amount of cash for the needy people in Bangladesh. Second, through this event they were able to get involved in a local community activity. Next, SpaandanB's youth volunteers once again proved that they were ready to take any responsibility for the betterment of Bangladesh. Finally, this event demonstrated SpaandanB's team spirit as they made more than 4,500 hotdogs in 12 hours! The physical exhaustion from making thousands of hotdogs did not wear down the SpaandanB volunteers. Laughter and joy of the volunteers were echoing throughout the Fry's parking. Splendid job, SpaandanB volunteers!
