Project Warmth 2015

A group of recipients at Chapai Nawabgonj Signature or thumb print gets collected for acknowledgement Children and senior citizens are the most affected during cold People with disabilities get priority

With your generous donation, once again we are able to complete a timely distribution of blankets to the cold-stricken disadvantaged people in Bangladesh. This year we are able to distribute 1900 new blankets to people living in the Northern side of Bangladesh (Rajshahi, Natore, Bogra, Joypur, Rangpur, Dinajpur, Ponchogor, Thakurgaon, Kurigram, Nilphamari and Lalmonirhat). SpaandanB Bangladesh officials together with dedicated volunteers from Badhan (voluntary blood donor organization) travelled to remote locations and identified deserving candidates and accomplished the distribution in an orderly way.
While distributing the materials to a certain location, we brought the local government officials in the loop. Before the distribution to each location, a group of 2-3 volunteers visited the place and went door-to-door to collect necessary data. Once selected, a token was handed over to the beneficiary. They were all provided with the details of the distribution date and venue. On the day of the distribution, the beneficiaries showed up at the venue, handed over the token and collected a blanket. While selecting beneficiaries, the following facts were taken into consideration -

  • Persons with disabilities are given priority
  • Children and senior citizens are given priority
  • Families with bad financial condition are given priority
  • No discriminations are made based on the beneficiary’s religion, race, gender

Please look at Photo Gallery for pictures of the distribution process.

Original Appeal:

Every year, during the winter season, gripping cold strikes the disadvantaged people of Bangladesh. It is an irony that being the second largest ready-made garments producer of the world, Bangladesh still has people who can not afford to have good warm cloths to ride out the winter. The ones who are living out on the streets or in the slums, especially the little ones and the elderlies, take the brunt of the cold. Impoverished people in the Northern part of Bangladesh suffer miserably throughout the cold.

Like every year, this year also SpaandanB has started a campaign to collect funds to provide blankets to the cold-stricken people. For only $4, we can provide a good quality blanket to a disadvantaged person. A blanket can be shared by multiple members of the family and can become an important thing to fight against the cold winter. We are planning to procure 2000 blankets from the local market and distribute them before the harsh winter sets in. Each blanket will cost about Tk300 including the cost of distribution. Please look at 2015 Distribution Plan .

We are urging all our donors and supporters to step forward and donate for this worthy cause. Only few dollars can make a world of difference!
