This scholarship is in the loving memory of Alfaz Uddin. Bir Muktijoddha (Freedom Fighter) Alfaz Uddin was born on November 9, 1943, in Murshidabad. After the Partition of India, his family settled in Godagari Upazila of Rajshahi district. He was the second son of Bir Muktijoddha and respected member of the Bangladesh Constituent Assembly, elected representative of the 1970 elections, Riaz Uddin Ahmed. Alfaz Uddin began his career as an assistant teacher at Godagari School and College. Later, he worked at the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission before serving at Qatar’s water purification center for 19 years. During the Liberation War, he participated in Sector 7, Sub-sector 4, alongside his father and elder brother. Alfaz Uddin, a valiant freedom fighter and founding president of the Godagari Upazila Dhaka Association, passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at 10:42 PM while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Dhaka (Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilaihi Raji’un). On February 28, after receiving a Guard of Honor in Godagari Upazila, his funeral prayers were held, and he was laid to rest in the family graveyard. He is survived by his wife, one son, one daughter, four grandchildren, and countless admirers. Alfaz Uddin loved reading books, reciting poetry, and listening to old songs. His family seeks everyone’s prayers for this deserving son of the nation.

SCHOLARSHIP DETAILS:

This program provides academic scholarship to a student who is studying at the department of Law at the University of Rajshahi and has shown merit and excellence in studies but financially at a disadvantaged state. The scholarship provides an annual award of 18,000 Taka (about $240) to be disbursed in two equal installments. The scholarship can be extended over multiple years subject to maintenance of satisfactory grades.
