A project to provide health and nutrition services to children and mothers
The story of HWCCNC is a tale of dedication and community spirit. It all started in the early 2000s in the village of Gokorno, Bangladesh, where access to healthcare and nutrition was a serious challenge for many families. Dr. Marufi Khan, the driving force behind the initiative, saw the need for better healthcare and nutrition, especially for women and children. With a lot of hard work and a little bit of hope, HWCCNC was born.
From its humble beginnings, HWCCNC has grown into a vital part of the community. Over the years, they’ve launched a variety of programs aimed at improving the health and wellbeing of the people in Gokorno and surrounding villages. Whether it’s providing basic medical care, nutrition programs, or educational opportunities, HWCCNC has been there, rolling up its sleeves and getting things done.
In 2005, HWCCNC added another feather to its cap with the PATA project. This initiative focuses on providing pathological services, which are crucial for diagnosing and treating various health conditions. With the help of SpaandanB, a U.S.-based charitable organization, PATA has helped countless individuals get the medical support they need.
Fast forward to recent years, and HWCCNC is still going strong. They’ve expanded their services to include computer learning centers and literacy programs, helping the younger generation gear up for the future. They’ve also hosted awareness workshops on topics like breast cancer and teenage health, because empowering people with knowledge is just as important as treating their ailments.
HWCCNC isn’t just about healthcare; it’s about community. They host annual cultural and religious events, like Milad and Puja, bringing people together and keeping cultural traditions alive. These events are not only a chance to celebrate but also an opportunity to reinforce community bonds.
Of course, the journey hasn’t been without its challenges. Political unrest, funding hurdles, and the COVID-19 pandemic have all thrown curveballs their way. But HWCCNC has shown resilience, adapting to the times and finding new ways to support their community, even when the going gets tough.
As HWCCNC and PATA continue their work, they remain focused on their mission: to improve the lives of women, children, and families in their community. With ongoing support from local and international partners, they’re poised to make even greater strides in health, education, and empowerment.
Through the ups and downs, HWCCNC has been supported by a network of donors, volunteers, and well-wishers. It’s a testament to what can be achieved when people come together for a common cause. Here’s to many more years of making a difference!

Overview of PATA
Origins and Purpose:
PATA was launched in 2005 as a response to the critical need for accessible diagnostic services in Gokorno, a rural area in Bangladesh. The project aims to provide pathological support to the local population, which is essential for diagnosing and treating various health conditions. By offering these services, PATA helps ensure that residents can receive timely and appropriate medical care.
Key Services:
• Pathology Lab: At the heart of PATA is its pathology lab, which conducts a range of diagnostic tests. These tests are crucial for identifying diseases and conditions that might not be apparent through basic clinical examinations.
• Clinic Services: Alongside pathology, PATA operates a clinic that provides general healthcare services. This integrated approach allows patients to receive both diagnostic and treatment services in one place.
Community Impact:
PATA has become a vital resource for the Gokorno community and surrounding areas. By providing affordable diagnostic services, the project helps reduce the financial and logistical barriers that often prevent rural populations from accessing necessary healthcare. This has led to improved health outcomes and a greater awareness of health issues among residents.
Challenges and Resilience:
Operating in a rural setting comes with its own set of challenges, such as limited resources and logistical difficulties. However, PATA has shown resilience by adapting to these challenges, including navigating the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. The project has continued to provide essential services even when faced with disruptions.
Support and Collaboration:
PATA has received support from various partners, including SpaandanB, a U.S.-based charitable organization. This collaboration has been instrumental in securing funding and resources necessary for the project’s operations. Additionally, local community involvement has played a critical role in PATA’s success, with volunteers and staff working tirelessly to meet the community’s healthcare needs.
Future Outlook:
Looking ahead, PATA aims to expand its services and reach more people in need. By continuing to develop its facilities and capabilities, the project hopes to further enhance the health and wellbeing of the community it serves.
In summary, PATA is a cornerstone project of HWCCNC, dedicated to improving access to healthcare in rural Bangladesh. Through its pathology and clinical services, PATA addresses a critical gap in the healthcare infrastructure, making a tangible difference in the lives of many.
