Empowering disadvantaged youth with industry-ready vocational training.
According to the Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies (BIDS), nearly 40% of Bangladesh’s youth are unemployed, while industries face a shortage of approximately 8 million skilled workers. To bridge this critical gap, SpaandanB has expanded its mission beyond academic support to include structured vocational training for disadvantaged youth.
Recognizing the limited access to quality skill-based education, SpaandanB is launching its own Vocational Training Centers (VTCs). As a pilot initiative, two NSDA (National Skills Development Authority)–certified centers are currently being developed:
Graphic Design & Digital Marketing VTC, sponsored by Asiya-Quasem Trust
Electrical Installation & Maintenance VTC, sponsored by Afza-Hedayet Trust
Spaces for both centers have been secured, equipment installation is expected to begin in Spring 2026, and classes are projected to start by Summer 2026.
Out of 19 SpaandanB students who completed SSC in 2025, 15 are currently enrolled in vocational or professional training programs — a powerful testament to the organization’s commitment to turning education into employable skills and sustainable livelihoods.
Hridoy was on the verge of dropping out after primary school to help his father sell fruits and support the family. Through timely intervention and continuous mentoring by SpaandanB, he remained in school and successfully completed his SSC. Today, he and his close friend Shamsuddin are enrolled in four-year diploma programs, scheduled to conclude in 2027. Their education is supported by the generous Dr. Faisal and Punam Scholarship endowment, enabling them to pursue professional careers and build stable futures.
Hawa’s journey reflects a different but equally powerful transformation. After completing primary school, she faced the very real possibility of becoming a garment worker or a child bride. SpaandanB teachers and staff worked closely with her family, providing guidance and encouragement until they agreed to let her continue her education. She has since completed her SSC and is now pursuing a degree in medical technology, supported by the Dr. Wahhab and Amena Khandker Scholarship endowment.
Looking ahead, SpaandanB plans to establish a full-scale Vocational Training Institute outside Dhaka, housing a dozen or more training centers in high-demand trades such as:
Plumbing
Construction
Automobile repair
Electrical and technical trades
Digital and technology-based skills
With nearly 10 million Bangladeshis working abroad, many in low-skilled jobs without language training, there is significant untapped potential. SpaandanB’s long-term plan includes offering internationally certified training programs alongside targeted language instruction to improve employability, earning capacity, and ultimately increase remittance contributions to the country.
SpaandanB is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. All U.S. donations are tax deductible and qualifies for company matching in most cases.
