The deadly Corona Virus wreaked havoc worldwide. The statistics are staggering: More than a million deaths, over 38 million infected worldwide in 235 countries, and all numbers are on an exponential rise in some countries. US alone has over 215,000 deaths and about 8 million people contracted the disease (as of October 16, 2020 based on WHO).

The scourge of COV-19 also engulfed Bangladesh and caused more than 5000 deaths and about half a million people contracted the disease. Even though the death number is relatively smaller in Bangladesh, but because of the socio-economical situation, Covid-19 caused extra hardship to disadvantaged people. Also because of lack of supplies, front line workers are facing immense danger every day handling corona patients.

SpaandanB team, diligently conducted field research to identify and evaluate and decided on high impact critical need areas. SpaandanB started online fundraiser and quickly raised more than $73,000 dollar in US and in Bangladesh. SpaandanB deployed its resources in the following areas:

Food support to students of SpaandanB schools and to disadvantaged people:  More than 5500 food packages (more than $70,000 worth ) have been distributed among the families of the students of all 4 SpaandanB schools. Also packages were distributed to disadvantaged people in Northern part of Bangladesh. Each food package consists of almost 2-months worth of food supplies.

Critical Supplies for Medical Professionals: SpaandanB joined hand with Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) to address the acute scarcity of PPE for the healthcare providers. SpaandanB distributed almost $24,000 worth of N95 Masks, Surgical Masks, Body suits , Hand Sanitizers and Gloves to front line workers.

Educational and Hygiene Supplies for Students: SpaandanB distributed educational materials to almost 3000 students.
