SpaandanB Bangladesh Team monitors and helps implement all project activities in Bangladesh. It maintains liaison with other implementing organizations on a regular basis and reports back to SpaandanB USA Executive committee.
SpaandanB Bangladesh office is registered under the Non-Government Organization Bureau (N.G.O) of Bangladesh with registration number 2623.It is also registered in Bangladesh as “SpaandanB Health, Education, Development Society” under the society Act XXI of 1860 by the registrar of Joint Stock Companies and Firms. I am Professor Dr. Amena Begum, currently serving as the Country Director of SpaandanB Bangladesh since 2021. My journey in academia and beyond has been a fulfilling one. I earned my PhD in Physics from the University of Edinburgh, UK, in 1979, following my Master of Science degree in Physics from the University of Dhaka in 1970.
Over the years, I had the privilege of teaching at the Department of Physics at Dhaka University, where I spent a significant part of my career. I also had the honor of being a member of the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh. From December 1986 to August 1991, I served as an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics at King Saud University in Saudi Arabia. Earlier in my career, between 1980 and 1982, I worked as a Senior Scientific Officer at the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission.
My journey with SpaandanB began long before my current role. I served as an advisor for many years, and in 2021, I was entrusted with the position of Country Director. This role has brought immense joy and fulfillment to my life. Working with SpaandanB allows me to connect with the heart of Bangladesh—its resilient people. Witnessing their smiling faces, despite the hardships they endure, fills my retired days with a profound sense of happiness and purpose. This affiliation has truly enriched my life in ways words can hardly capture.

I am Md. Mostafizur Rahman, and I currently serve as the Deputy Country Director of SpaandanB in Bangladesh. For me, SpaandanB is more than just an organization—it’s a place built on mutual understanding, respect, love, and affection. What inspires me most are the people who live far from home yet remain deeply connected to Bangladesh and its welfare. Their dedication motivates me every day.
From a very young age, I found joy in helping others. I still remember buying medicine for elderly women in my village or lending a hand to classmates in school. That sense of purpose grew stronger as I got older. When I joined Dhaka University, I had my first experience donating blood. I was deeply troubled to see a “middleman” exploiting patients’ families by demanding money in exchange for blood. I couldn’t stand by and let that continue, so I decided to take action.
I joined *Badhan*, a voluntary blood donor organization, early in my university life. I worked tirelessly to support the cause, and eventually, I had the honor of becoming the Central President of the organization. It was during my time with *Badhan* that I first learned about SpaandanB. We worked together on flood relief efforts, and that collaboration left a lasting impression on me.
After completing my education, I had the privilege of meeting Mr. Masih-ur Rahman, the Country Director of SpaandanB at the time. He invited me to join the organization, and in 2006, I began my journey with SpaandanB. Since then, I’ve devoted myself wholeheartedly to its mission.
Helping people has always been my calling, and through SpaandanB, I’ve found a meaningful way to serve the common people of Bangladesh. Being a part of this organization brings me immense happiness and fulfillment.

After completing my Honors level education, I came to Dhaka for higher studies and got admitted into Dhaka College in 2016. Due to financial hardship, I could not continue my education and thought about getting a job to make both ends meet. I came to know about SpaandanB School from one of my friends and joined Suchana Sikkha Kendra in January 2017. It was my first time experience and I saw something different here compared to other schools. It is a free school. Besides, SpaandanB provides food , school uniforms, toys etc. to the students. The children of this school are from nearby slum area and all of them are from very low income families. Soon two years passed by, and I completed my M.Sc degree. Gradually the name SpaandanB entered in the depth of my heart. I feel love and respect for SpaandanB. In March 02, 2019, I joined SpaandanB Head Office. Now I know all other activities of SpaandanB. Recently I got married and my wife is with me at Dhaka. My life is better and I want to make it better for others too. I wish good luck for SpaandansB.

I am Md. Sajedul Islam, and I’ve been working as a Program Officer at SpaandanB’s Dhaka office since April 2023. With a Master of Arts degree in English, I’ve always valued meaningful connections in life, and SpaandanB feels like the perfect place for that.
To me, SpaandanB is more than an organization—it’s a big family. Being part of this family allows me to connect to so many positive and inspiring aspects of life. Through the work we do, I feel a deep sense of happiness and fulfillment. It’s truly rewarding to contribute to a cause that brings hope and change to so many lives.

I am Md. Abdul Zabbar, and I joined SpaandanB in April 2023. Currently, I am working as a Program Monitor. I hold an M.S.S. in Social Work from National University, and being part of SpaandanB has been an incredibly enriching experience for me.
Every single activity of SpaandanB touches my heart deeply. Through this work, I not only get the chance to contribute but also to learn so many new things along the way. This journey inspires me to keep learning and growing, both personally and professionally. I am grateful to be part of such meaningful work.
