Hosneara Atiq Memorial Scholarship

Empowering the next generation of physicians through the legacy of sacrifice and service.

The primary goal is to provide comprehensive financial assistance to meritorious but economically disadvantaged MBBS students at SSMC. Starting with the 2025-2026 session, the program will support two students (one male and one female) from each batch for the full five-year duration of their medical education. At full capacity, the program will support 10 students annually, fostering a new generation of skilled and compassionate healthcare providers.

Honoring a Legacy of Selfless Giving

This scholarship is established at Sir Salimullah Medical College (SSMC) through the support of Dr. Saiful Kabir,  in loving memory of his mother Hosneara Atiq,  whose life was defined by extraordinary sacrifice and an unwavering commitment to her children’s future. She believed that talent and dedication should never be limited by circumstance. In her spirit, this program seeks to transform lives by supporting future physicians who will serve humanity with the same compassion and integrity that defined her life.

Why This Project is Important

Medical education in Bangladesh is rigorous, and for many meritorious students, financial hardship is the primary cause of withdrawal. Students from low-income families often struggle to cover essential daily costs, sometimes resorting to home tutoring which can negatively impact their academic focus. By providing tangible financial relief, this initiative ensures that deserving students can focus on academic excellence and professional development without the burden of economic stress

By turning the personal loss of his beloved mother, Hosneara Atiq, into a beacon of hope for others, Dr. Kabir demonstrates the profound empathy that defines his character as a physician and a son.We are honored to partner with Dr. Kabir in this noble endeavor. His decision to invest in the education of financially challenged students at his alma mater’s peer institution, Sir Salimullah Medical College, is a powerful testament to his commitment to giving back to his roots. This program does more than provide financial aid; it preserves a family legacy of sacrifice and ensures that the next generation of Bangladeshi doctors can pursue their dreams with the same “unyielding commitment” that his mother once showed him. We thank Dr. Kabir for his trust, his compassion, and his enduring contribution to the future of healthcare in Bangladesh

About Hosneara Atiq : by Dr. Saiful Kabir

This scholarship is established at Sir Salimullah Medical College in loving memory of my mother, Hosneara Atiq, whose life was defined by extraordinary sacrifice, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to her children’s future. She was the guiding force behind my journey into medicine—not through words alone, but through a lifetime of selflessness that demonstrated the true meaning of service.

In a family blessed with children, my mother chose a path of relentless giving. She consistently placed the needs, aspirations, and happiness of her children above her own comfort and well-being. Her days were shaped not by personal ambition, but by an unyielding commitment to ensuring that her children had opportunities she herself never sought. She never measured success by what she gained, but by what her children became.

Her sacrifices were not momentary; they were lifelong. She endured hardship silently, carried burdens without complaint, and found fulfillment only in seeing her children grow into responsible, compassionate, and accomplished individuals. The values she instilled—discipline, empathy, perseverance, and integrity—continue to guide my personal and professional life as a physician.

This scholarship is a small but enduring tribute to her legacy. By supporting two deserving students who face financial challenges, it seeks to honor her belief that talent and dedication should never be limited by circumstance. Through this program, her spirit of sacrifice will live on—transforming lives, enabling education, and nurturing future physicians who will serve humanity with the same compassion and selflessness that defined her life.
